The course "Learner Licence Course Class 1" has finished

This one-day course has two components:

  1. Revision of the official New Zealand Road Code
  2. Waka Kotahi (NZTA) Theory Test for Class 1 Learner Licence, utilising the VTNZ Mobile Theory Testing Unit based at Manfeild Park Trust

This course is ideal for those who are already familiar and comfortable with the Road Code and are sitting the Learner Licence test for the first time.  You will need to have correct Identification confirmed before attending this course – there will be no refunds if your Identification is not accepted by VTNZ.

The course helps you to revise the New Zealand Road Code through a variety of teaching methods.  This section of the course takes approximately four hours.

After revising the Road Code, you will be able to sit your Class 1 Learner Licence theory test in the VTNZ Mobile Theory Unit at Manfeild.  The Waka Kotahi test is a tablet-based, 35-question multi-choice test that assesses your knowledge of road rules and safe driving practices.

Once you have passed your theory test, you will be given a temporary learner licence. Your photo driver licence will be posted to you.

For these courses you need:

  • To be aged 16 years or over
  • To be able to pass an eye test
  • To have a good understanding of English
  • Proof of your identity, through original copies of correct identification. You will not be able to complete any of the course without the below identification. One of these documents MUST include your photo and have an expiry date.

What identification can I use?

You must present either:

  • your current New Zealand passport

OR

  • If you don't have a New Zealand passport or it has expired then you will need to provide two documents of NZTA approved ID (one of these documents must include your photo).

Examples of Waka Kotahi NZTA approved ID include:

  • Original copy of the New Zealand Birth Certificate (not a certified, signed photocopy) and current New Zealand Student ID.
